about

The first release from Boston pop punkers Pooka Stew. "Everything Falls Down," was a two-song single, released in 1992 on cassette only. The songs were recorded at Metropolis Studio in Middleton, MA, by Dave Dickerson, with Todd Winmill assisting, to 2" tape on a 16-track Studer, via an E Series SSL board.

Studio co-owner John Weston and singer/songwriter Michael Barry co-produced with Dickerson. When released, the cassette contained just two songs, "Everything Falls Down," and "A Place on Earth."

Sometime in the 2000's, Barry and engineer Ted Paduck digitized the original tape, re-discovering a third song from the sessions, "Way More Than Fun," (lyrics co-written by Bill Hansen) which is included in this re-release. All the songs were re-mixed by Huck Bennert in 2022.

The drummer on the "Everything Falls Down" EP was Jim Dorschel, who moved from Boston after the recording was completed, but before it was released. The original credits listed new drummer Chris Glynn as a band member, but thanked Jim "for the drums."

This is the original Pooka Stew release - the one "discovered" by WMFO DJ Mikey Dee, and first featured on his program, "On The Town with Mikey Dee," in 1992.

about

Pooka Stew Boston, Massachusetts

"...Pooka Stew ruled the Boston club scene for much of the 90's. Alcohol-fueled beyond their ability to survive, Pooka Stew left behind a full-length album, an EP, a single, a basketful of awards, a record label in receivership, and a lot of hard feelings. But anyone who saw them will tell you that on certain nights they were as good a live rock band as there ever was." - Last.fm ... more
